Upcoming iPhone 13 Pro – Matte black, better portrait mode and more!

The iPhone 13 series is expected to launch this September. That is six months away, but we have some great info on the upcoming iPhone 13 series. All this information is not officially confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Matte Black iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max colors consist of Gold, Pacific Blue, Silver, and Graphite. Color options are an important factor in the selling point of any smartphone. It looks like Apple will be using a different formula for the colors of the iPhone 13 series. The Silver and Gold colors are expected to return. The Graphite color is being refined to a proper matte black color. Matte Black is a color that is hugely appreciated within the tech community.

Apple is said to be experimenting with a new Orange or Bronze color finish to replace the Pacific Blue. But that is unlikely to happen as the Blue iPhone is very well accepted and is selling too well.

The colored rear glass is currently attached in a stainless steel frame on Apple’s premium iPhones. The main downside of this is that it is a fingerprint magnet and it is prone to smudges. As per the reports, Apple is testing a new coating that will be applied to the frame of the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max to avoid fingerprints and smudges.

Better portrait mode, thinner camera bump

As per the reports, Apple has some cool camera improvements coming with iPhone 13 series. The biggest improvement is the portrait mode which should be getting a lot better. Starting with the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple will combine data from both the camera sensors and LiDAR sensor as well. The LiDAR sensor is used for better edge detection.

There is also an ‘OIS correction mode’ that is expected to be coming. This will make sure that the target is in focus at all times regardless of shaking. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max is expected to share the same camera hardware setup. The current iPhone 12 Pro Max has a larger sensor than the regular iPhone 12 Pro. The camera bump thickness will be reduced as Apple is considering reducing the thickness of the lenses used.
